WCMA Exhibition Wins "Best Show" Award

“Making It New: The Art and Style of Sara and Gerald Murphy,” a Williams College Museum of Art exhibition, received the first place award for the “Best Show in a University Gallery” from The International Association of Art Critics/USA. “Making It New” was conceived and created by Deborah Rothschild, formerly senior curator for modern and contemporary art at WCMA. The exhibit celebrated the lives of the Murphys, American expatriates living vivaciously in France during the roaring 20s -and the models for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s main characters in “Tender Is the Night.” “Making It New” opened at WCMA on July 8, 2007 and ran through November 11, 2007.
