Neil Kubler: Publishes 500 Common Chinese Idioms

Posted May 3, 2011: Neil Kubler, Stanfield Professor of Asian Studies, recently published 500 Common Chinese Idioms: An Annotated Frequency Dictionary. Written with coauthors Liwei Zhang and Weiguo Zhang and published by Routledge in London in early 2011, this dictionary presents the 500 most commonly used Chinese idioms or chengyu based on extensive studies of frequency in contemporary written Chinese. The dictionary, which includes synonyms, antonyms, and two example sentences for each idiom, can be used for individual study, as a supplementary textbook in class, or for reference.
